Through visual language Oleh Shcherba’s poster tells about the first days of the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February. The artist depicted the kyivan residential building that was hit by a shell on February 26, lines of men to the military commissariats, who readily entered the ranks of the territorial defence, as well as one of the symbols of Kyiv – The Motherland Monument also ready to defend Ukraine with a raised upwards sword.

On this poster, the author depicted famous Russian cultural figures, classics of the XIX and XX centuries, as captured soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The poster shows portraits of Fyodor Dostoevsky, Mikhail Lermontov, Mikhail Bulgakov, Joseph Brodsky, Sergei Yesenin, Vladimir Vysotsky, Lev Tolstoy, Viktor Tsoi and Alexander Pushkin.

With this work, the artist wanted to convey that the Russian culture, including the legacy of the depicted personalities, is currently being used by the terrorist regime of Putin to promote and justify his imperial ideas and aggression, regardless of the wishes of the Russian artists themselves. In other words, Russian culture has become another powerful Russian weapon in Ukraine and all over the world.

«Russian warship – go fuck yourself!» – that was an answer of the Ukrainian border guard Roman Hrybov to the suggestion to surrender made by Russian missile cruiser «Moskva», the flagship of the Russian navy in the Black sea. The event took place on the Ukrainian Snake Island on 24 February 2022, the first day of the full-scaled Russian invasion.

The phrase became extremely popular in Ukraine and all over the world. It is widely used as a slogan during protests and demonstrations. In April 2022, the phrase was commemorated on a postage stamp by the Ukrainian postal service. Two days later, the «Moskva» was critically damaged by Ukrainian anti-ship missiles and sank the following day. After that the Ukrainian postal service issued a new postage stamp «Russian Warship...DONE! ».

There appeared a lot of poster versions by Ukrainian artists based on this phrase. But the most popular images are those of Boris Grokh (used on the stamps) and Nikita Titov. Both can be seen on the exhibition «Ukraine. People. Courage. Posters». Those images became more then posters – they are symbols of the Ukrainians’ resistance against Russian aggression and determination in defending their homeland. Those images can be seen everywhere in Ukraine but also around the world like a symbol of support – from posters and banners to T-shirts and mugs.

The poster shows a bombed-out building in the form of paska – the national festive baking of Ukrainians for Easter.

On Easter night 2022, the Russians attacked the districts of Kharkiv, and on Easter itself they shelled the Zolochiv and Chuguyiv districts of the region. As a result of the Russian shelling, 2 people were killed and at least 14 were wounded
