“A keepsake for all the hearts of March 1, 1898” reads the artist’s signed handwritten inscription at the bottom of this memento for a banquet being held in honor of Montholon and Monthiers, the directors of the Brussels Exhibition of 1897, hosted by the French exhibitors from the fair. And what a souvenir: an austere, yet sensual allegorical maiden, whose floating, diaphanous enthronement nearly obscures a modified Belgian coat of arms. This Lot consists of 3 proofs, same design, on 3 different colored sheets. Rare!
